Mythical Properties
The topaz has had many magical properties attributed to it over the centuries. The ancient Egyptians believed it was coloured by the glow of the sun god Ra who had bestowed powers on it to protect the faithful from harm. It is said that Topaz will change colour in the presence of poisoned food or drink, it is also supposed to cure several physical ailments such as asthma and insomnia.
