'Fancy' cuts

A 'fancy' cut gemstone will generally have a traditional shape such as a cushion or princess, however it will have extra faceting, either in the form of a checker board or other distinctive pattern. This style of cutting is a more modern technique however still has a traditional look.

'Fantasy' cuts

Not having to cut a stone to a calibrated size gives the cutter the ability to be very creative. This creative freedom has led to a form of cutting known as 'Fantasy' Cuts . A 'Fantasy' cut stone is one that has been cut in an unusual way, giving the stone extra faceting, grooves, and shapes. These 'Fantasy' cuts can vary from the simple 'checker board' designs to more complex groove patterns and drilled holes (known as bubble cuts), giving rise to lovely optical effects.
A 'Fantasy' cut stone can add that different dimension to your jewellery giving it modern and distinctive look.
