Treated fancy coloured Diamonds.

Due to the rarity of naturally fancy coloured Diamonds, a large number of heat treated fancy colours have entered the market. These Diamonds are not 'fake', they are natural Diamonds, but have been diffusion heat treated to modify their colour. Although these Diamonds still cannot be called inexpensive, they have made some fancy colours within the average persons reach.
Heat treating is not an exact science however, and it can, in some cases, make the Diamonds colour unstable. There is also a good chance that during diffusion treatment of the Diamond, it will turn a sludgy colour with little appeal. This has meant that the Diamonds that have generally been diffusion treated, tend not to be of the highest quality (not great colour and often not high clarity) due to the risk and cost involved.

At Jan & Tom Wightman Goldsmiths we only stock natural non enhanced 'Chocolate' and 'fancy' colour Diamonds to the best of our knowledge. All have been bought in good faith from respected suppliers who support non conflict diamonds. However we can supply treated Diamonds by request. Prices of the colours vary in both natural and treated colours.
