Both these stones can be found in forms known as landscapes. They are given the name 'landscapes' as they have a tendency to have formations of colours and shapes that look like countryside, forest and desert scenes. They can also form many other different shapes and forms. Each stone is unique and with its varying colours, with a little imagination you can see a scene from the natural world. Both Agate and Jasper rate 7 on the Mohs scale (see our article on the Mohs scale), meaning they are relatively hard. Landscape Agate and Jasper will tend to be cut into slices to mount in jewellery, this will make them a little more vulnerable, however with proper mounting , the setting can help to protect it and produce a durable piece. We make Agate and Jasper
jewellery set in 18ct gold and hung on 18ct gold wire, with prices starting
at £700.
